Getting Here

Paradise Valley is situated just south of I-90 and the town of Livingston, Montana. It’s bordered on the South by Yellowstone National Park, the East by the Absoraka Wilderness Area, on the West by the Gallatin Mountains, and the North by the Crazy Mountains. Whew.

Local Airports

The closest airport to Paradise Valley is Bozeman’s Gallatin Field Airport (airport code: BZN). It’s about a 35 minute drive from the airport to Paradise Valley. Delta, United, Northwest, Frontier, and Horizon Air all fly into Bozeman on regional jets. Delta connections typically route through Salt Lake City, United through Denver, and Northwest through Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Cheaper flights might be found into Billings Logan Airport (airport code BIL). Billings is about 120 miles away from Paradise Valley, or about an hour and a half at Montana highway speeds. Billings is served by Delta, United, Northwest, Frontier, and Horizon. Billings airport, perched on top of a mesa above the city, can be fun and exciting especially on a windy day.

Car Rental

You will more than likely need / want to rent a car as Montana’s public transportation lags a bit. Four-wheel drive is not necessary.

Option 2: Take I-15 North to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Head West on Highway 20 to Rexburg, through Island Park along the Snake River (watch for swans), then over to West Yellowstone. From here, you have two options. The slightly faster route heads North on highway 191 through the very western edge of Yellowstone National Park, then along the Gallatin river canyon. Turn right on Highway 84 and drive through downtown Bozeman. On the other side of Bozeman, get on I-90 heading east towards Billings. Drive up and over Bozeman pass to Livingston (Exit 333). Alternatively, from West Yellowstone, you can continue into Yellowstone National Park along the north part of Grand Loop Road towards Mammoth Hot Springs (watch out for elk!). Leave the Park via the North entrance towards Gardiner. Highway 89 runs right into Livingston 35 miles to the north.
